Installation Steps
Start with Surface Mount and the In-Wall Mount "Backpack" assembly (install-omni.getawair.com).
Change the Surface Mount mode switch to position "2", which allows the Surface Mount to get its IP address from the network DHCP server (install-omni.getawair.com).
Connect the Surface Mount to power (PoE Switch, Omni USB-C wall adapter, or Low Voltage AC/DC).
Connect the Surface Mount to an internet-connected Ethernet cable (install-omni.getawair.com).
Wait up to 1 minute for the Surface Mount firmware to update automatically. (you can check at the Local API endpoint: http://{{ip-address}}/settings/data )
Connect the Omni sensor to the Surface Mount (install-omni.getawair.com).
Wait 1-2 minutes, to make sure Omni has download the latest firmware. (a firmware check begins right after bootup - "FW" "UP" "DATE" - and is indicated by a progress bar across the LED Matrix Display - ":::::::::::::::" - followed by a reboot)
Now the Surface Mount is ready to configure via: http://{{ip-address}}/settings
Note: remember to "disable" Cloud Connectivity if the Omni + Surface Mount are intended to be used in an offline / local-only installation scenario.
What are common sources of VOCs?
List of VOCs
Because VOCs occur as a group, measuring and reporting each chemical individually is impractical. Measuring them as a group is simpler and far more effective. Another way to look at VOCs is by category, as shown below.
Some example chemicals (although not exhaustive):
Acetone
Formaldehyde
Acetic Acid
Toluene
m- & p-Xylenes
n-Undecane
n-Dodecane
Nonanal
n-Decane
o-Xylene
d-Limonene
Benzene
1,1,1-Trichloroethane
Hexanal
Carbon monoxide
Ethanol
Ethanal
Isoprene
Methanol
Isopropanol
Ethylbenzene
1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene
Tetrachloroethene
Phenol
Ethyl acetate
2-Butanone
Styrene
TXIB
4-Ethyltoluene
2-Butoxyethanol
2-Ethyl-1-hexanol
Nonane
Octane
Butyl acetate
n-Hexane
Pentanal
1,3,5-Trimethylbenzene
a-Pinene
Texanol 1&3
4-Methyl-2-pentanone
Naphthalene
1-Butanol
1,4-Dichlorobenzene
